Wine always tastes a little better when sipped by the river. A Nashville event will allow wine aficionados a chance to experience wines from across the country and around the world.
The annual event, Wine on the River, is a city treasure that brings thousands to experience the world of wine with tastings and learning about the wine-making process. The event will be held for Saturday, Sept. 19, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge.
The event is one of Nashville’s many social gatherings that reminds city dwellers of what makes the Music City so appealing during summer days. Wine on the River brings out the sundresses and the khaki shorts for summertime frivolity.
More than 100 wineries will be represented at the event. Visitors will be able to sample wine from lands far removed for the United States, while wines found stateside will be available for tasting, too.
To further wine experience, upon paying admission event goers will have access to all of the wine samplings and will receive a souvenir glass.
But you can’t sip wine on an empty stomach. Some restaurants located in the Nashville area, such as Prime 108, Maggiano’s Little Italy and Mafioza’s Pizzeria and Neighborhood Pub will be offering nourishment to event goers.
The event will also feature musical entertainment at the event. On the west side of the pedestrian bridge The Nashville Symphony will perform from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.; David Andersen will take the stage from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. On the east side, Trio San Rafael will take the stage from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.; Teri Reid and Girltalk will perform from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The event is for people 21 years old and older and is a rain or shine event. No re-entry is available at the event and outside beverages are not allowed.
Advance tickets are $45 and tickets purchased the day of the event will cost $55. Designated driver tickets are set for $15.
