Dirty and poorly maintained

Monday was day one of our first official "Stay-cation". We were excited to spend the day at Nashville Shores because we had heard it had changed significantly since the ole Hermitage Landing Days. Well it's changed: 1) It appears that over the past 20 years they have added eight slides. Two of which are geared for kids under 48 inches. Well they have added the slides and it appears that they did manage to clean them one time in the past 20 years. Nice job, shame they didn't think much about little kids. Clearly this place is designed for the teen set 2) It was also surprising to see that they have only added sand to the beach one time in the past 20 years. The gravel pit, I mean "beach" was charming and left me wanting to do anything but take a long walk on the beach. 3) The pool area was nice and would have been ideal for 100-150 guests. However for a Monday crowd of several hundred it was nice to occasionally have 3 square feet to myself. 4) The splash area was nice as well. Now that I see how small the area, it wouldn't be too much money to have Watson's put one in my own back yard. One bucket, one driveway, and voila - Splash Lagoon. I could even charge money to the neighbors so I could begin to recoup the wasted $63 (with coupon) that our family spent. 5) The Aqua Park was amazing (for those with very low self-esteem). Apparently Nashville Shores is feeling the economy as they only chose to afford to keep 15 life jackets on hand. Thus even though it was a Monday, long lines waited for those ready to plunge into the muddy Percy Priest Lake to begin to climb any of the five or six inflatables (well maybe only four since a couple seemed to be broken). Bottom line. Nashville shores is a ok destination IF - 1) You are between the ages of 10-16 OR 2) Have never been to a nice water park like Holiday World.

Pros: There is water and plenty of staff

Cons: equipment is poorly maintained, too cramped

Great Place For Summer Fun

My husband and I went to Nashville Shores for the first time last summer (2007) though we have been in the area our whole lives. We got season passes, which were well worth it for us because we went to the park regularly. Sometimes for a whole day and sometimes for just an hour or two. If you plan on going more than once I recommend getting the season pass, it does save money in the long run. Since there isn't really very many family fun outdoor activites in the area anymore (since our beloved Opryland USA was closed and demolished) Nashville Shores is a real gem. There is something to do for the whole family. They don't have a lot of slides but you won't get bored they always have activites going on. We enjoy going just to get away from the everyday routine and just have fun and relax. If you have kids, they will love it. Check it out if you are ever in the area, you won't be sorry!

Pros: Plenty to do, Great place to relax and have fun!

Cons: Being on the lake sometimes it gets to be too windy to do some of the activites, like the ferry ride or the banana boats and Kayaking. But that is very rare.

Swimming hole to top all swimming holes

We went swimming and boating and had a picnic, I like the idea of having the choice of a pool and the beach to play and swim. The only bad thing about Nashville Shores is the weather won't permit them to stay open all year long. They need some winter activities like horseback riding and hiking. It was a lot of fun and we will visit again next summer.
